Lee Ethel Davis was born May 12, 1932, in Midway, Texas to the proud parents of Leon Russell and Betty Lou Harris. She attended Albert Lee High School from 6th grade until 12th grade. She graduated with honors in 1950. She married Ben Allen Simmons in 1954, he preceded her in death. In this marriage 4 children were born, Charles Edward Simmons, James Allen Simmons, Betty Joyce Simmons and Rogers Lee Simmons.
She came to Dallas, Texas in 1962 and worked at the Dobbs House at Love Field Airport for 1 year in 1964. In the year of 1970, she was employed by Dr. and Mrs. George E. Miller as a laboratory technician, who gave her a fresh start here in Dallas as they supported her in every way. They were Christian-hearted people, and they showed love towards her and her children. She worked for them until the passing of Dr. Miller in 1985. She was employed by them for 12 years and God always made a way for her family. She met Excelsiour Davis and was married for 10 years, he preceded her in death.
She joined the Faith Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1996. She was a lead singer in the choir and sang with a group named the Jordan Aires. She served as a deaconess as well as a silent worker for Christ.
She was momma or granny to many who loves her still today. She studied the bible daily. She was known for Avon Calling Sales, Tiera Sales, Tupperware sales, and many other entrepreneurial opportunities. Her hobbies were Baking, volunteering at nursing homes, and sewing.
She was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Martha Gibbs, Leon Walker Russell, Kenneth Ray Russell, Edward (aka Eddie) Lee Russell, Michael Lee Russell and Carlester Russell.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Charles Edward Simmons, James Allen Simmons, Betty Joyce (Sue) Kalle and Rogers Lee Simmons; god daughters and god sons; her siblings, James Johnson, Jeffrey Russell (Mona), Cristell Russell Miller (Barron), Veronda Russell McGowan (Gregory), Lee Ethel Russell and Lee Ester Russell; 15 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 35 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family, friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.
