Laura Nell Harris Mitchell, 96, passed away peacefully Friday, February 16, 2018, at Autumn Leaves assisted living home of Cy-Fair, Houston, TX. Laura was the widow of James R Mitchell, owner and president of Southwestern Blueprint Company, Dallas. She dedicated her life to teaching a private piano studio from her Dallas home, including previous presidencies for the Dallas Music Teacher's Association, and Dallas Chapter of the American Harp Society. She was a former member of Delta Delta Delta and professional music fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Music from Texas Woman's University.
Laura is survived by son James R Mitchell, Nokomis, FL, daughter Mary Emily Mitchell, Nacogdoches, TX, and son and daughter-in-law Robert H and Elizabeth V Mitchell, Houston; grandchildren Laura Soloff Solomon, Albuquerque, Lena Soloff, Los Angeles, Robert J Mitchell, Lewisville, TX; three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel, 7403 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Wednesday, February 21, 2018, 12 noon, with viewing at 11:00 am. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park.
