Laura Hudson Woods Gall was born December 3, 1928, passed away February 23, 2012. Laura was the daughter of Dennis E. and Catherine Guitar Woods, and the granddaughter of John and Laura Guitar, a prominent West Texas pioneer family. Laura grew up in Abilene, Texas where she graduated from Abilene High School in 1946. She attended an all-girls school, Christian College in Columbia, Missouri for two years and then attended the University of Texas, where she received a B.A. degree in 1951. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority where she was president of her pledge class. She was united in marriage to William Ray Gall on May 23, 1953, and was a devoted wife and mother, who especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her interest and expertise in antiques, but was also recognized for her beautiful needlepoint pieces, including her Christmas tree ornaments, which numbered in the hundreds. Laura and Bill raised their two daughters, Cathy and Carie, living in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Greenville, Texas; Evansville, Indiana; and settled in Dallas, Texas in 1963. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Ray Gall; daughter Catherine Gall Parker and husband, Craig; her granddaughter, Lindsay Parker Byerly and husband, Tracy; granddaughter, Lexie Caroline Parker; great grandchildren, Sayler and Tripp Byerly; daughter Caren Gall Lucas and husband, Rusty; granddaughter, Casey Burgess Wilson and husband, Billy; granddaughter, Corie Hudson Burgess; grandson, William Michael Burgess and wife, Rebecca; great grandchildren, Trystan and Presley Schirf, and Evie and Repps Wilson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis E. Woods, and is survived by brother, Jack G. Woods. The family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Senior Living for their love and support, and to All Star Hospice for their care and compassion over the last few months. The family will hold a visitation at Sparkman Hillcrest, Sunday, February 26 3:00-5:00 p.m. Graveside service will be Monday, February 27, at Sparkman Hillcrest at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 at Schreiber Memorial United Methodist Church, 4525 Rickover Drive, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Dallas Alzheimer’s Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the charity of your choice.
