Larry was a graduate of West High School in Phoenix, Arizona and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Arizona State University. Following graduation, Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, Larry began his career in commercial construction. Throughout his career, Larry managed the construction of many sports arenas and large commercial buildings across the U.S. before retiring from Hunt Construction Group.
Larry was an avid golfer, and enjoyed crosswords and reading. He was a huge sports fan, especially of the Dallas Cowboys, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals, ASU Sun Devils. Larry had a great sense of humor and a happy-go-lucky outlook that allowed him to enjoy life to its fullest. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Gary and sister, Cheryl. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Hankins; stepson, Michael Ahrend; sisters-in-law, Karen Hankins and Jeanne Black; brother in law Bill Black and Becky; nephews and nieces Donald Jr., Gary, and Debbie Hankins, Randy and Tony Black, Tommy Selby and Heather Selby; great nieces and nephews Addison and Cadence Hankins, Sammie, J.T., and Maci Tiller, Andrew and Emily Black, McKenzie and Taylor Selby.
