Larry Dean Davis was a beloved husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, and friend to many, who went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the age of 75. Larry was born on August 18, 1949 in San Mateo, California to Leroy Thomas Davis and Goldie Mae Redd Davis. Larry lived a life that was a testament to faith, love, and family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Goldie Mae Kerry, father Myrl Kerry, brothers Thomas Davis and Gary Davis, sisters Brenda Maxey, and Chereal Stewart.
He is survived by wife, Peggy Davis of Dallas, TX, daughter Angie Bostwick and a wonderful son in law he would do anything for and vice versa, however they didn’t always see eye to eye especially how to pronounce Bostwick and Lancaster, David Bostwick of Midlothian, TX and daughter Sabrina Davis of Rockwall, TX, brother in law Roy Maxey of Palestine, TX, sister in law Lois Davis of Wills Point, TX, sister in law Willie Wilcox of Dallas, TX, sister in law Virginia Smith and brother in law Steve Smith of Northlake, TX. Grandchildren Kevin, Eric, Brian, Brandon, Faith, and Grace. 7 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. And lots of nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly and many considered him a second Dad.
He lived in Lancaster, TX with his mother Goldie Mae Kerry and Dad James Myrl Kerry, brothers Tommy and Gary, and sisters Brenda, and Chereal. He attended Lancaster High School. In 1967 he met the love of his life Peggy Joyce Harville at Shamrock Skating Rink. He went home that night and told his mother he had met the girl he was going to marry, and she said, “How are you going to marry her when she won’t even talk to you?” They were married on October 26, 1968 at New Heights Baptist Church in Seagoville, TX. Larry and Peggy were married for 55 years and 11 months. They had two daughters Angie and Sabrina.
Larry worked at Food Lion and Lystads until he started his own business ABX Pest Control in 1980 with partner Ronnie Horn. He retired at the age of 62.
Larry never met a stranger and was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a gift to crack a joke that made you laugh until you cried. He could fix anything from a broken hot water heater to a microwave by using a coat hanger. Larry loved spending his time hunting at the cabin he helped build with his dad and siblings in Derry, Louisiana. He loved fishing, watching his grandkids play various sports. Faith and his love for his Lord were the cornerstone of Larry’s life. As a deacon at Dallas Park Missionary Baptist Church, he dedicated his time and talents to serving the Lord and helping Bro. Ken in Children’s Church. Everyone loved his cooking, especially his peach cobbler.
A devoted family man, Larry cherished every moment spent with his wife Peggy and their girls Angie and Sabrina. He was a proud grandfather to Kevin, Eric, Brian, Brandon, Faith and Grace who brought him immense joy and laughter. He was known to them as “Grandpa”, always ready with a joke or a story, imparting wisdom and love at every opportunity.
Larry approached every challenge with determination and a positive spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith and countless memories that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in our hearts. Today, as we bid farewell, we take comfort in knowing he is surrounded by his loved ones and his Heavenly Father. He will be profoundly missed by his family, and friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
I could go on and on but anyone who met Larry didn’t forget him or his sense of humor.
