Kerry Lynn Houston, known affectionately as “Chubby,” was born October 23, 1965, in Dallas, Texas, to the parentage of David S. Houston and Barbara Houston. He received Christ at an early age while attending Greater Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ. He received his formal education through the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in 1984. He was formally employed by the City of Dallas and Pat Salmon & CO., where he worked a plethora of years. Upon his demise, he was employed with Bundzl. In his leisure time he loved working with youth at the Salvation Army and Pleasant Oaks Recreation Center. He worked diligently with the youth through coaching and mentoring; primarily through basketball and football, while coaching the Pleasant Grove Trojans, Pleasant Grove Broncos, and Metro Hornets. In 2002, after courting for many years, he married the love of his life, Shounda Phillips. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Houston; grandparents, Vivian and Harvey Houston; uncle, Harvey Houston; and nephew, Kendrick Sullivan. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 13 years, Shounda Houston; his father, David S. Houston; three daughters, Amber, Ebone and Kiera; two sons, Dwjuan and Chance; two sisters, Tamie Evans and Pamela Houston; one brother, David W. Houston (Yolanda); and additional siblings, all of Dallas, Texas; one grandson, Cayden “Fat Boy” Houston; four nieces, La’Kevia, Tangie, Kiarra, Tre’nea; four nephews, Corey, Myles, Damian, and Elijah; two great-nephews, Bryson Whitaker and Christian Black; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
