Jones of Sachse, Texas, formerly of Little Rock, Arkansas; by his father, Judge Gus William Jones of Eldorado, Arkansas; by his mother, Byrd Goss Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas; and by his brother Gus William Jones, Jr., M.D., of West Palm Beach, Florida. Kenneth was a graduate of the University of Arkansas Medical School. He served in the United States Navy Medical Corps in World War II and saw action as a Beach Medical Officer at Eniwetok and Iwo Jima. After the war, Kenneth completed his residency in orthopedic surgery in Chicago, Illinois, and returned to Little Rock, Arkansas, where, in 1954, he and the late Horace Murphy, M.D., founded the Jones-Murphy Orthopedic Clinic, which later became the Little Rock Orthopedic Clinic, where he practiced medicine for 33 years. Kenneth was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Arkansas Medical Society, the Flying Physicians Association and the NFL Physicians Association. Kenneth contributed greatly to medical research. In 1963 he reported a new surgical technique for reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which is today known as the “Jones Procedure.” Kenneth also pioneered modern hand surgery, publishing frequently in medical journals such as the Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society. Kenneth was recently honored by the NFL Physicians Association for his contributions to sports medicine. Kenneth was also an accomplished aviator. He held FAA Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor certificates, with numerous ratings. He was also an avid alpine skier and certified SCUBA diver. Kenneth and Beryl founded KBJ Timber, Ltd., establishing one of the largest privately held timber plantations in Arkansas. Kenneth and Beryl moved to Sachse, Texas, in 2000, to be near their children and grandchildren. After Beryl’s passing in 2012, Kenneth moved to The Tradition in Dallas, Texas. In 2015, Kenneth married Gloria Presley of Dallas, Texas. Kenneth’s family will honor him at a private memorial service on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 9:30 AM, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225.
