Family was always dear to Kenneth. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His wittiness, humor and sarcasm were one of a kind and could make you smile on any given day. Kenneth was happily married for over 38 years to his beloved wife, Madeleine. Being a Pappaw came naturally to him. He was known for his big hugs and cuddles in addition to teaching his loved ones how to work on cars, do house repairs, and navigate different stages of life.
He was a proud American and Vietnam Veteran, having served as a US Marine from 1966-1969.
He served two tours on the USS Long Beach, which was the largest nuclear powered missile cruiser at that time. After his military service, Ken had a long career in the telecommunications industry with Southwestern Bell, AT&T, and SBC spanning over 33 years until his retirement.
Kenneth was an active member in the Elks Club, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the VFW. He enjoyed many hobbies, including watching NASCAR, dancing, traveling, and playing games like Dominoes and Pinochle.
He was preceded in death by his parents George 'Monroe' Jones and Alpha 'Inez' Jones, as well as his only sibling, Julia Chapman, and his only cousin, Roger Watson. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Madeleine Jones, and his children: daughter Theresa Christopher and her husband David, son David Hatzenbuehler and his wife Janel, and daughter Deanna Jones, in addition to 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Kenneth is also survived by his nephew, Garlan Anderson and his wife Donna, his niece, Terisa Anderson, and their families and by his cousin's widow, Beth Anne Meriweather.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 5, at Sparkman Crane Funeral Home from 5-7pm with the Rosary to follow at 7pm. The Mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9635 Ferndale Rd, Dallas, Texas. Graveside service will immediately follow at Restland Cemetery.
