Kay, the eldest child and only daughter of the late John H. and Ruth E. (Couch) Weiser, was born in Oil City, PA, on September 30, 1940. She graduated in 1958 from Emlenton (PA) High School, where she was an honor student and selected to receive an award from The Chamber of Commerce on the basis of character, scholarship, leadership and personality. Kay, the class salutatorian, was an accomplished cheerleader and majorette, teaching baton in the summer months.
Kay completed the three-year program at The Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA, in August 1961. Prior to starting her family, she was employed as a registered nurse at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.
On August 26, 1961, she married Richard H. Klingler, who survives and resides in Keller. Her husband’s career with what is now ExxonMobil Chemical necessitated that the family briefly relocate to France in 1971, and a highlight of Kay’s life was the 6 months she spent living in a small village in Normandy.
Kay was a lifelong United Methodist, serving at various times as a leader of the Methodist Youth Fellowship and President of the United Methodist Women. During her life, she was a member of congregations in Pennsylvania, New Providence, NJ, Baton Rouge, LA, and Texas.
In addition to her husband, Kay is survived by her three children and their spouses: David A. (Michelle) Klingler and Marianne (Jack) Schnell, each of Plano, TX, and Jennifer (Joe) Ellis of Katy, TX. She is also survived by three granddaughters of whom she was particularly fond, Elizabeth Klingler, Cori Schnell, and Katie Ellis, and by a brother Jack T. (Susie) Weiser of Oil City.
Arrangements were handled privately, and no services will be held. The family suggests that donations be made in Kay’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
