Ruth was born in Dallas, TX on September 30, 1925 and died December 29, 2020, at the age of 95.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred W. Pettus. They were married for 66 years before his death in 2009 and her nephew, Thomas Michael Pettus, who died in March 2020.
Ruth retired in 1984 after 40 years with Sears & Roebuck on South Lamar in Dallas, TX. She was active in the Sears Retiree Club after her retirement.
She is survived by nephews and nieces and their families. William Pettus (wife, Martha and son, Daniel) and Fredrick Pettus (wife, Karen and son, Benjamin and daughter, Kathryn.) She is also survived by her nieces, Gina Robinson (husband, Mike) of Georgia, Susan Medlock of Florida and Carol Ann Pettus (Cappy) of Long Island, New York and their families.
