Born on April 17, 1963 in Dallas, Texas, she was the third of four children born to parents Bob & Anna Moore, who both preceded her in death. She went to Good Shepherd School in Garland and was a Graduate of Bishop Lynch High School.
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin, Kathy majored in education and never looked back. For over 30 years, she worked with kindergarteners in the Diocese of Dallas and the Garland Independent School District, teaching and loving every student that walked through her doors. From her MOOSE notebooks to thematic earrings, there was never a dull moment in Ms. Moore’s classroom.
While she taught over 1,000 students in her career, she had the biggest impact on the lives of her nieces and nephews. Having no children of her own, she spent every minute she could with her family, doting on her nieces and nephews. Rotating each summer, she would take each child on a trip to celebrate them—from baseball games in the Bronx and Cowboys training camps, to cruises to Mexico and trips to Disneyland, Dollywood and Sea World, Kathy made each summer special. She attended every graduation she could, coached little league teams, and never missed an opportunity to see the world.
After her retirement from teaching in 2017, she spent her time with her great-niece and great-nephews, catching up with friends and traveling as much as she could—every minute she was not with family or friends, she was planning new adventures to see places that some can only dream of.
A consummate party host, Kathy never missed a chance to celebrate a holiday or birthday. She loved to bake, was a mean pokeno player, watched every Hallmark movie she could, and could always be counted on to just break out into song.
Kathy is survived by her sisters, Sandy Masoner, Peggy Wainwright (Gary) and brother Robin Moore (Margaret), as well as her eight nieces and nephews: Sarah, Kristie, Cody (Iria), Lindsey (Zach), Patrick (Diana), Matthew, Robin, and Bella, great-nephews Henry and Lincoln, and great-niece Sophia.
A Visitation/Rosary will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 16th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Garland, TX, immediately followed my a Memorial Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Good Shepherd Church St. Vincent de Paul Society or donations of school supplies/ backpacks to your favorite teacher would be greatly appreciated.
