Dr. Gilmore was, is, and will be an inspiration to all of us who ever met or knew her.  I had the immense pleasure to have worked with her (if only briefly).  May we all be so blessed to be able to do what we love and love what we do throughout our lives.

I had only a few brief opportunities to work with Kathleen in her later years.  I was deeply impressed by her optimism in the face of health challenges, and her generousity in providing much-needed guidance on historic archeology while respecting the observations of others.  Her spirit will continue to inspire archeologists in Texas and the nation!

I met Kathleen over 30 years ago at the TAS meetings and she was a very informative and gracious lady! I was 27 years old and she pulled my beard and asked " why do you have this crap on you face?"  Every time I ran into her she pulled my beard and asked the same question. A wonderul lady who will be missed! Greg

My wife introduced me to Kathleen and Bob  about 11 years ago and since then I have been very happy to call her a friend. She and Bob were a most generous couple. We were saddened with Bob's passing and although worried about Kathleen knew she would persevere. She did and continued to and will have a great and undying influence on all those she met and worked with.

Lou and I met Kathleen in 1965 and have treasured her friendship.  She was an inspiration for avocationals as well as for professionals.  We will miss her greatly.

I worked on a field project for Kathleen 30 years ago and, afterwards, for a few months in the lab at Denton. It was a great experience, and I am very grateful for having had the opportunity to know her as a friend since that time. Kathleen was a dedicated and enthusiastic student of the past, and she set an example that will continue to be inspirational for generations of scholars. It was a pure joy to see Kathleen, as feisty as ever, three months ago at the annual conference of the Society for Historical Archaeology. I am thankful to have had that last meeting with Kathleen, and I will miss her terribly.

Kathleen has been an inspiration to me for her pioneering archeological  work.  She was a most gracious mentor as I attended national meetings, introducing me to the presenters and officers that led to productive affiliations.  Her presence and leadership in archeology will be missed at the state and national level.

I never had the pleasure to know Dr. Gilmore, but I've been inspired by her accomplishments throughout my career in archaeology. May she rest in peace and my sincerest condolences to the family.

Kathleen was a lady – and a scientist blessed with common sense.  She brooked no nonsense, and made many lasting contributions to archeology while touching many lives and making them better.  Her spirit continues even as we miss her wit, wisdom, research, and companionship.

I did some of my best work, & some of the work I enjoyed the most, at UNT for Kathleen. She inspired loyalty & dedication in everyone I ever knew who worked with her. I am proud of the small roles I had in her work, but mainly I am proud just to have known her, & to have been a witness to her outstanding career & exemplary life.

The spirit of Kathleen's joy of live, curiosity, incredible memory, and wonderful family will be with for my life.  I will aspire to make it as rich a life as she made hers.  She will be greatly missed by all.
