Kathleen Anne Davis (Katie), a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 19, 2024, at the age of 93 surrounded by family and friends. Her life was marked by her profound commitment to family, her faith, and countless acts of service to her church community.
Katie was born on October 4, 1931, in Ottawa, Canada to Michael and Jane (Cowley) Dunleavy. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Davis and brother Thomas Dunleavy, sisters Theresa Dunleavy Armstrong, Eileen Dunleavy Simpson, and infant son Phillip James Torley. She is survived by her sister Patricia Dunleavy Derouin, sons Matthew Torley, Christopher Torley (Kayla), daughter Julia Torley Price (George), grandchildren Andrew Price, Kimberly Torley Masterson (Chris), Olivia Price Black (Connor), Stephen Price and Michael Torley, step granddaughters Crystal Tovar (Moses) and Darcie Perkins, great grandson Beau Patrick Black and step great grandchildren Myra, Ashley, and Ethan Tovar.
After raising three children Katie worked as a claims administrator for Medical City Hospital of Dallas and later the Director of Religious Education for St. Rita’s Church in Dallas Texas.
In addition to her professional life Katie was a prolific artist, spending hours in her studio creating everything from portraits to landscapes. She also enjoyed her Book Club meetings, regular Monja games, Bible studies, and her Tuesday night glass of wine with friends at the Addison Midway Point.
Katie was a steadfast pillar of love and support to her family and friends. Her unwavering devotion to family, especially her grandchildren, was evident in the countless moments spent together. She was their biggest cheerleader during triumphs and was uncompromising with her love and support during challenging times. Her guidance, generosity and ever-present support was her daily mission and will be sorely missed.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for our mother at Medical City Dallas and T.Boone Pickens Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Their caring servant hearts made this journey a beautiful experience.
Her Funeral Mass will be on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:30am at St. Rita Catholic Church. She will be buried in Southern California alongside her son, Phillip James Torley, who passed away as an infant.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
