Katherine Inez Anderson

In September of 1933, Inez and William F. Anderson married. They had three children, Amelia, Gordon and William Harold. By the time the children were born, they had moved to Dallas to establish their home and work places. They were married for 48 years at the time Bill passed away in 1981.

Inez began working outside the home in 1952 as a hair stylist. She spent nearly 30 years in that career.

Bill and Inez were charter members of Urban Park Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School classes of many ages until she was 90 years old. In addition, she worked in Bible School, WMU, sang in the choir, for a time was head of the church kitchen committee, served wherever needed and attended the activities for the senior adults in the church. She remained a member of that church until it disbanded in 2013.

Outside of church activities, Inez enjoyed maintaining her home by working in the yard, cleaning and cooking large meals for family occasions. Family gatherings were a delight for her.

Inez passed away on August 5, 2016 at the age of 101. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, brothers, Wilson and Guy Parks Patterson, sisters, Loma Dillon and infant sister, Patsy Ruth Patterson.

Inez is survived by her children: Amelia Hill and husband, Arlyn, Gordon Anderson and wife, Donna, William Anderson and wife, Bernice, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are her brother, Sam Patterson, sister, Meda Clay, and several nieces and nephews. Each one was loved by her and special in her sight.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 10 from 10AM until the time of the funeral service at 11AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
