June was born in New Braunfels on January 7, 1932, daughter of Ben and Juanita Alford. She grew up with sister and brother, Elinor and Leslie. In 1950, June married Richard Blair in Dallas. They had two sons, Paul and Douglas.
After sixty years in a wonderful marriage and family, Richard passed away to be with our Lord. Soon after, she moved to Houston to remain close to her sons. June passed away on December 29, 2019.
June was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother, leaving behind a lasting foundation for her family. She was a patient homework advisor and involved den mother; always packed enough sunscreen to go around a regional swim meet; eating the crust was always optional; if it didn't melt in your mouth, it wasn’t a snickerdoodle; evening leftovers could brighten any Basset’s eyes; found glass water on any lake. As a bridge player, she could play any hand she was dealt; went antiquing before PBS Antique Road Show; made a sport of garage sales; fearless of flying, as long as family wasn’t onboard; talented seamstress of smocked outfits handed down to great-grandsons; loved crossword puzzles and any flavor of ice cream. She leaves us with smiles and loving memories and will be missed by all.
June is preceded in death by husband Richard, sister Elinor, and brother Leslie and his wife Billie.
She is survived by sons, Douglas, Paul and wife Debbie, grandson Mark and wife Keri, and great-grandsons Brooks and Paxton, brother-in-law Melvin, sister-in-law Ruth and husband Brad.
The family wishes to thank Christiana, Ola, Lena, Rosa, and the teams at The Buckingham. We appreciate your support these last few years.
A memorial service will be held in Dallas, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Grove Hill, led by her pastor, Kent Barnard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redeemer Bible Church of Dallas, Texas, or a favorite charity.
