Born and raised in Louisiana, Bud graduated from Tulane University of New Orleans before joining the Air Force, flying reconnaissance in Vietnam. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Bud and his wife, Ann Ulmer, moved to Dallas where Bud began a long a career as a pilot with American Airlines. Bud and Ann had four children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
As a beloved husband, father and friend, there was never a day that you didn’t feel his love and concern for his family and friends. Bud enjoyed life and spent many hours gardening. He was very proud of his “crops” ,but was quick to laugh it off if they didn’t produce well and meet his expectations. Regardless, they always tasted better than anything you could buy at the store. He will always be remembered for his humor, wit and storytelling.
Bud passed away peacefully at the age of 92. We are all saddened by this loss, but he will forever be in our hearts and memories. He will be truly missed.
Bud was preceded in death by his father Julian, Sr., mother Willie Pearl and wife Ann Ulmer.
He is survived by his oldest son, Julian Clyde “Beau” McVay and his wife Terry, daughter Susanna Carson and her husband Don, son Scott “Scooter” McVay and his wife Teresa, and his youngest son Matthew and his wife Rebecca Jane.
In addition, he is survived ten grandchildren, Donald “D” Carson, Jr., Alex Carson, Shelby Carson Silvey, Julian Clyde “Jory” McVay, IV, Nic McVay, Austin McVay, Jessica McVay, Hannah McVay, Matthew “Blaise” McVay, Jr., and Andrew McVay, along with four great-grandchildren,
