Judge Joe Bill Burnett, 85, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2017. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home on Sunday, May 7 at 2:00P.M..
Joe was born January 24, 1932 in Spokane, Washington. He attended Terrell Preparatory School, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. After proudly serving in the US Navy, Joe earned his B.B.A. and J.D. from Southern Methodist University. In 1969, Joe began what would become a long and distinguished career as a Dallas County Judge. Serving more than 20 years on the bench, Joe retired from the Fifth District Court of Appeals in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia; his parents, T.C. and Ruby; and his loving second wife Jeanette.
He is survived by his three children, Rick of Carrollton, TX, Russ and his wife Deanna of Carrollton, TX, and Jim and his wife Gayla of Frisco, Texas; brother, John Burnett of Grand Saline, TX; and nine much loved grandchildren.
