Joyce S. Hogan

Joyce S. Hogan, 95, of Dallas, Texas, passed on July 6, 2020. She was born in Houston, Texas, February 15, 1925 to the late Charles and Lulu Sowerby. Joyce married Jerry J. Hogan on October 26, 1946 in Houston, Texas.

She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1942. Joyce worked for oil companies doing secretarial work before she was married and throughout; until her husband’s job opportunities relocated them first to Alice, Texas and finally to Dallas, Texas in the early 50’s.

Soon after moving to Dallas they began a family in Oak Cliff but shortly after the birth of their second child, they settled in East Dallas in the St. Pius X Parish where they would reside the remainder of their lives.

It is in the St. Pius X and Bishop Lynch community where Joyce’s aptitude for service would develop and become a lifelong vocation.

Her husband of 67 years died in 2013. Joyce is survived by her son; Patrick Hogan (Diane), daughter; Nancy Hill (Robby), sons; Jeff Hogan and Tom Hogan. Grandchildren; Katie, Kevin, Justin, Andy, Elliot, Miles (Kierra), Lauren and Adam. Great Grandchildren; Makayla, Christian, Daniel, Evan, and A.J.

Visitation is Friday, July 17, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 18th at 10:30 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Road, Dallas with Rev. Michael Guadagnoli, V.F. celebrant. A private burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Bishop Lynch High School, Dallas.
