Joy. A name could not fit her better. Joy McLeskey Hartman, born on August 13,1922 and died peacefully in her sleep at age 93 on Friday, July 15,2016. She had lived in Dallas, Texas since 1947 and worked at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service headquarters as an IT manager until retiring in 1977. Joy traveled extensively to over 60 countries, stood on the north pole and visited all seven continents. She was a long time parish member of Christ Episcopal Church in Dallas. Survivors include her two sons, Thomas Latson and John Latson, daughters in law, Mary Latson and Bernadette Latson, stepson Merrill Hartman, stepdaughter Gaynel Dishon, eight grandchildren, many great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews and innumerable friends. Joy was preceded in death by him husband, Russell C. Hartman, her sister Sarah Frances Shelton, and her parents J 0 and Carrie McLeskey. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 18 at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church; 534 East Tenth Street in Dallas, Texas. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception immediately following. Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, July 22, at Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown at 1661 South Elvis Presley Boulevard in Memphis, Tennessee. She asked that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church or a charity of donor's choice. Kind, loving, joyful and intelligent, she lived a happy life and brought happiness to those who knew her.
