Joseph Furbee Gordon, native of Homer, LA, was born June 5, 1922 and deceased May 3, 2015. Preceded in death by mother and father, Margaret Furbee and Joseph Ira Gordon and sister, Laura Alice Gordon Tigner. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Connie H. Gordon, step son, B.J. Combs, children Laura Lea Gordon, Joseph Spencer Gordon and wife Hollie, Scott Darst Gordon and wife Debra, Clark Beatty Gordon and wife Kathleen, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Joe graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Architectural Engineering where he was a drum major in the Aggie Band. He was a Second Lieutenant who proudly served his country in WWII as a spotter pilot. He flew combat missions directing ground fire in the Northern European Theater earning the Air Medal and Purple Heart. Joe related the experiences in his book “Flying Low and Shot Down Twice”.
Joe practiced residential and commercial architecture in Dallas for 63 years with licenses in 16 states, Mexico and New Zealand.
For over 46 years he and his loving wife enjoyed a happy marriage building a home in Dallas, caring for their growing family, traveling in the US, Mexico, and Europe. They have been active members of St. Michael and All Angels since 1971. Joe redesigned the choir loft, the cloister and gave of his free time to the development of the Jubilee Center.
Marriage to Connie was his great joy along with close family ties with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
