Joseph R. Dyer, 68, of Dallas, died Monday, June 29, 2015, after a brave battle against cancer. He was born August 4, 1946, in Beaumont, TX, to Woodrow and Jackie Dyer. He is a long time active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas.
Joe had a respected career in law. He began his career as a law clerk for The Honorable Joe J. Fisher, followed by his tenure as a corporate attorney with AT&T. Joe had a big heart, a keen mind, and an eye for the beauty in everything. Ask him about most any subject, and he would shower you with astounding details or give you the history of some event or artifact that you had never before heard. His interests stretched from cultivating antique roses to fine works of art, the ballet, Broadway, opera, antiques, classic movies, jewelry and more. Joe gave freely of himself to all who knew him, and there will be no one who can replace his generous and caring spirit in the same way.
He is preceded in death by his father, Woodrow R. Dyer, Sr. and is survived by his devoted mother, Agnes Jackie Dyer; siblings W. Robert Dyer, Jr. and his wife, Ann, Marian Dyer, Karen Dyer Wilson and her husband, Paul, Colleen Dyer, and Jackie Dyer Grigar; nephews and nieces W. Robert Dyer III, William Dyer, Stephen Grigar, Kyle Grigar, Garrett Dyer Vaughn, Chip Wilson, and Kathleen Wilson, as well as friends, neighbors, and associates too numerous to count.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3811 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, TX. Interment will follow at a later date at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, TX.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be mailed to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3826 Gilbert Ave, Dallas, TX 75219 or a charity of your choice.
