Joseph Francis Barta, 57, of Garland, Texas, passed away June 20, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Patricia Bond and sons Bryan Caldwell and Jacob Alexander. Joe was the seventh of eight children by Ted and Ann Barta – Jerry, Jane, Mike, John, Maggie, Betsy and Steve. He had 25 nieces and nephews, and 30 great nieces and nephews…and countless good friends throughout the years.
Joe was born in Dallas on August 10, 1962 and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School through eighth grade. He was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1980, lettering in swimming. He married his wife Sarah on September 20, 1986 and settled in Garland. Joe worked in insurance and banking for Aetna and NorthPark Bank. He had an incredible talent for fixing all things mechanical, especially Datsun Z-Cars. That lifelong passion led to a 30-year membership in the Z-Club of Texas, with a term as Vice President. He loved soccer and was known as “Coach Joe” for 15 years, leading youth teams the Dynamite Dinosaurs, the Vipers, the Burn, and the Shooters. Joe had an enormous zest for life, with a truly unique sense of humor and a heart of gold for all those he touched.
