He started working at the age of 6 and left school in the 1st grade.
At the age 17 he ventured for the first time into the United States. He found work as a ranch hand in Lamesa, TX. He was deported a few years later but returned to Texas at the age of 22. By 24 he made his way to Dallas and met Delfina Vargas at a nightspot named El Ranchito Club. The two were married by July of 1972. They had 3 children Jesus (1973), James (1976), and Janet (1982).
Learned to cook at the Ramada Inn in Farmers Branch in 1975. Made it his career until 2022. Spent 30 years working at the Loews Anatole Hotel and a little over 15 years working for Legends Hospitality at Texas Stadium then AT&T Stadium. His hard work earned him employee of the year honors on various occasions.
Passed away after battling various illnesses which included diabetes, cancer, and ultimately a stroke. He passed away on Tuesday April 4th 2023 with his daughter Janet and son Jesse at his bedside.
Survived by: Wife: Delfina V Sustaita, Sons: Jesse and James Sustaita, Daughter: Janet Sustaita, Daughter in law: Bobbie Searson (married to Jesse), Grandson: Zacharias Sustaita, Brothers: Guadalupe and Gregorio Sustaita, Sisters: María Luisa Navarro and Carmen Velásquez.

Favorite food: Chicken Mole, Menudo con pata de puerco, Fajitas.
Loved working, cats, cowboys football, boxing, scratch off lottery tickets.
Favorite boxers: Muhammad Ali, Julio César Chávez, Canelo Alvarez.
