Jose Mario Herrera

We are saddened to announce the passing of Jose Mario Herrera, 80, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was born to Pedro and Consuelo Herrera in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico. He worked 27 years for the City of Dallas. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed listening to music and watching the Cowboys.

Mario is survived by his current wife of 11 years, Rosemary; siblings, Rosalba, Feliciano, and Pedro; children of his first marriage, Jose Mario Jr. Herrera, Victor Manuel Herrera, Sara Herrera-Romo, Rafael Herrera, and Christina Herrera-Balderas; daughter-in-laws, Ashley Anne Herrera, Brenda Herrera, and Veronica Herrera; son-in-laws, Eduardo Romo and Arturo Balderas; grandchildren, Lizette Gonzalez, Brionne Herrera, Arissa Herrera, Jazmine Romo, Angel Romo, Christian Romo, Sierna Romo, Ariel Desiree Herrera, Mark Anthony Herrera, Rafael Herrera Jr., Leonardo Herrera, Valerie Herrera, Giselle Balderas, and Sofia Balderas; great-grandchildren, Jericho Hernandez and Liam Herrera.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Consuelo Herrera; brothers, Rolando, Rogelio, Arturo, Antonio, and Ricardo; and his first wife, Margarita Herrera (d. 2010).

A visitation for Jose will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A committal service will occur Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
