Sgt. Jonathan Taylor died unexpectedly on March 29, 2021 in Bonham, TX at the age of 33. Jonathan is survived by his two young daughters Ava Grace Taylor (5) and Adelynn Faith Taylor (4); his parents Donald Taylor, Fredericksburg, TX and Angeline Seonhae Lim, Pflugerville, TX; his elder sister, Jennifer Taylor of Pflugerville, TX; great-grandmother K.S. Bae, Singapore; uncles/aunts Thomas & Diana Taylor, Friendswood, TX; DB & Oh-Sun Lim, S. Korea; YB & Karen Lim, Singapore; Grace Lim, Yorktown, VA; Kyong Ae Lim, Berlin, Germany; cousins Shelly Taylor, YJ Lim, JY Lim, Janice & Steve Patyk, Kevin Lim, Alex Lim; nieces/nephew Emma Rogers, TO Kim, Mila Patyk. Jonathan is preceded in death by his grandparents Senior Master Sgt. Thomas & Mae Taylor of Lake Cherokee, TX; Col. Dr. S.Z. Lim, Ph.D. S. Korea; uncle K.B. Lim, Ph.D., Hampton, VA.
Jonathan Warren Taylor was born on May 11, 1987 in Tyler, TX to Donald Warren Taylor and Angeline Seonhae Lim. He graduated from Longview High School in 2005 and joined the US Army in 2006 serving his country for 11 years. He was a decorated soldier deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned many awards including two Army Commendation Medals, three Achievement medals, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Valorous Unit Award, three Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Campaign Stars Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab and Parachutist Badge. Friends and family remember Jonathan as a gentle, kind, compassionate, and empathetic soul. Jonathan loved serving his country but he loved his two daughters more. He had a passion for art and music and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He loved to cook and often entertained friends and family with meals he prepared at home.
