Johnnie Mae Miles was blessed into this world on March 31, 1940 in Lubbock, Texas to Johnnie Marshall Ross and Pearlie Mae Robinson. Johnnie Mae was the 2nd oldest of three daughters to Pearlie Mae Robinson, in which the sister trio held an incredible unbreakable bond and devotion to one another.
Johnnie Mae accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Taylor. She later continued following Christ at The Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. H. E. Anderson Sr., Senior Pastor.
Johnnie Mae relocated to Dallas Texas where she was educated within the Dallas Public School System, until she moved to Philadelphia for a short period of time. After she moved back to Dallas, she met the love of her life Mr. Johnny Lee Miles. Johnnie Mae and Johnny Lee became inseparable and after dating for a short period of time they solidified their relationship in marriage on December 1, 1957. They remained devoted to each other, until she departed this world on August 1, 2020.
Johnnie Mae was an excellent dancer and it was often said that she and Johnny Lee were the envy on the dance floor because the two were so smooth together. They were also unbeatable and unmatched card partners were she most of the time cheated at. These two were something to see.
Johnnie Mae was young when she entered motherhood and she loved all of her children unconditionally. Each of her children have often been quoted saying: “That she was the BEST and they couldn’t have asked for a better mother and friend.”
Johnnie Mae loved spending time with her family, especially on holidays. For Easter, they would go to the zoo after church. She would even get into the holiday spirit on Halloween by dressing up. Christmas Eve was often held at her house amongst her children and grandkids. Johnnie Mae valued the importance of family, in which she instilled within her children as well.
Johnnie Mae was so many things to so many people: A Devoted Wife/Mother/Grandmother/Daughter/Sister/Cousin and Friend.
Preceding her in death were both of her parents, Johnnie Ross and Pearlie Robinson. Along with Grandmother Pearl Jones and her two devoted sisters, Shirley Ann Robinson and Willie Dee Traylor.
Johnnie Mae leaves to embrace and celebrate her life, her husband of 63 years Johnny Lee Miles. Along with her children: daughter: Juanita M. Oaks-Williams (Harold), son: Timothy D. Holmes (Clemmie), son: Johnny R. Lockhart (Rose), daughter: Sherry Miles, daughter: Donna J. Womack (David) and Deborah A. Warner (Clarence). In addition to 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
