John suffered from primary-progressive Multiple Sclerosis for nearly 20 years. When asked what he wanted for his birthday this year, he simply said, ‘to walk’. The Lord answered his prayers by granting him something even better: angel’s wings.
Known for his dry humor and quick wit, John had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease. He enjoyed getting to know others, always taking a genuine interest in their lives. Even as his illness progressed and speaking became more difficult, he never lost his joy in good company, listening intently, laughing along, and soaking in the stories and moments shared around him.
A devoted husband and father of four, John’s pride in his children was unmatched. His love for his wife, and hers for him, was a constant source of inspiration to his children, who grew up witnessing the deep affection their parents shared. John never missed a game, show, recital, or event, always cheering his kids on with pride and telling them, ‘man you’re a great looking bunch!’ His hard work, especially during his years with Frito-Lay, never overshadowed his role at home. He woke up early for his shifts but always found time to pour love and creativity into his family.
John enjoyed rooting for the Texas Rangers (and was especially thrilled when they won the World Championship last year, on his birthday, no less), music, plants, sun bathing, candy, animals, tequila, video games, and embracing all the fun life had to offer. Even in the hardest moments, John’s good spirit shone brightly. His ability to find joy in the simple things made him a beacon of strength and inspiration to all who knew him.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Margaret White; his four children, Mary and Joshua Amosson, Laura and Zachary Wojcik, Tony White, Joe White; and his mother, Amy White.
His services will be held on Monday, November 25.
