John was special in his own unique way, he could always be seen riding his slick red bike up and down the streets of his Pitman Creek neighborhood, touching the lives of the strangers he called friends. He was known as a gentle, kind, compassionate man, and will always be remembered for his love of dancing, swimming, going out to eat, bowling, and just celebrating life. On any given day he could share the weather forecast and was always up to date on current events. Most of all, John was extremely proud of his 30 years of employment with The Village of Garden City Parks Dept, where he never missed a day of work. After retiring in 1999 he relocated to Plano Texas to be with family.
John is preceded in death by both his parents and his sister, Janet.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas Rogers; his nephew, Paul and wife Crystal Rogers; his niece, Jennifer Buchheit and husband Steven; and his great-niece, Haylie Buchheit.
