Dina:  I am so sad to hear of your loss.  Rod was such a great friend to me as a teen and was universally respected and loved by all that knew him.  We will continue to pray that the Lord comforts you and your family.

Dear Dina and family,

You've been ever-present in our hearts and in our prayers over the last week. We were, like so many others, shocked and saddened by the loss of Rod. We will miss his bright smile and warm greetings at church and around town.

We pray that your beautiful memories will carry you through this sadness. It must be such a lovely comfort to know that Rod touched so many lives in his short 50 years. The two of you together, Dina and Rod, have accomplished great work and there are so many who are grateful for your kindness. Rod leaves such a wonderful legacy to you and your children.

I cannot imagine or understand exactly what you are going through at this time and I am sure that there are no magic words that can help.  Although I have not talked to or seen Rod since high school, I still remember him to be a very kind, genuine and gregarious person. 
 
The mettle and character of a person can be partly assessed by how you are remembered; not just by those who know you now, but rather by an array of people over a period of time.  Those that knew Rod from high school and college speak of him with the same admiration as do friends and business associates he has garnered in the years since. 

I hope you find solace and peace in the memories of your husband and father.

I have such fond memories of Rod, his beautiful smile and and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. The minute people looked into his his eyes, they knew they had a  friend for life. This world is a better place because Rod Steele was a physical part of it which does not stop with his death. His spirit is strong and will continue to be felt by many. Those who knew him will pay his good deeds forward for years to come. May his family find the peace they need to get through these troubled days and to embrace the love of family and friends who can help ease some of the pain. His spirit continues and I am honored to have been a friend of Rod's.

Had the pleasure of graduating with Rod from MHS.  While I had not seen Rod for 30 years, my memory of him is very clear; Rod was everybody's friend. He was liked and admired by all.  He will surely be missed by all  that were blessed to know him.

What a wonderful godly man, Rod was!  It was a treasure to be with you both in Disciple Bible Class those Wednesday nights for years and then to see you at church in the some 16 years following with your children growing. Your compassionate hearts serving in so many ways affecting others including what you would do each year for people halfway around the world with Vision Africa. It is in great love and ever present smile that Rod will be remembered.  I see him now where we will be with God for eternity with all peace and joy. I am sure he is saying it is great up here and keep on telling people 'cause Jesus Christ is REAL!

I was in the Midland High School Band -and amazed at Rod's athletic ability -because I watched it from the stands while supporting our Football Team.  Just like the cheer leader -and probably in life -he kept people engaged, and that takes a lot of selfless talent.  I wish the family my heart-felt condolences from 32 years in arrears.  Rod touched many people since, and through then.

Like all of us, I am simply without word.  I remember meeting Rod at Midland Highschool in Drama class.  That friendship continued through our time together at UT. I was always struck by Rod's ease with life and his never ending  acts of compassion and humor. How lucky we all are that he was in our lives. Dina - I hope Rod's memory will always be a blessing.  With great fondness and deepest condolence.

As we wave good bye as Rod sails from our site we must think of those on the other shore waving and jumping up and down, shouting with joy as they watch him sail in.  So many funny memories.
