John Simus went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2018, surrounded by friends and family. John was the son of Frank and Rachel Simus. He is survived by his son Jason Simus, daughter Jessica Barr (son in-law Todd Barr) and grandsons Wilson Barr and Owen Barr. John was an All-American hockey player at Colorado College and a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army, who served bravely and honorably in Vietnam and the Dominican Republic. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of EDS for 30 years, where he made lifelong friends. He loved fly fishing, hunting and loved spending time at the Old Agency Ranch in Colorado and the King Ranch in Texas. He was a great and loyal friend to many, and was surrounded by friends and neighbors who returned that loyalty with overwhelming kindness towards him. In John’s memory, donations may be made to Trout Unlimited and the Dallas Amputee Network in his honor. A brunch with family and friends will be held to celebrate John’s life at the Westin Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club on Saturday, April 7th, from 11am-1pm, with a private burial to be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
