John T. Sanford was born the son of Charles and Patricia Sanford on May 18, 1952 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and died December 20, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife Connie and his three devoted sons, Joseph, Justin, and Jason. One of nine brothers and sisters, John went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas and, 30 years later, a Master’s of Liberal Arts from SMU. As a young professional, John worked at Arthur Young & Company in Dallas, then moved to Trinity Industries, where he worked for 16 years. Afterwards, in his semi-retirement, he participated in many different business ventures, including oil and gas, steel manufacturing, and non-profit work. John was a man who loved many things, and loved them deeply. John was a passionate family man. He loved his wife, his sons, and all things in which they participated. He loved his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and all of his extended family. He loved biking with his friends, flying planes, building barns, and waterskiing. He loved his ranch, sunsets, his dogs, his backhoe, and his endless supply of projects. Making things work made John happy, whether fixing an appliance, moving dirt, or building an airplane hanger. But as much as he loved getting things done, he was proudest of the things he, his wife, and sons accomplished together. A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. on December 24 at the St. Mark’s School Chapel, 10600 Preston Road. A reception will follow at St. Mark’s.
