John was born February 27, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA, to Kermit and Harriet (Cave) Rodda. He married his best friend, Jacqueline Polonsky, in 1952 and they raised three children, Stephen, Stefani and Michael.
John was a successful businessman, retiring as CFO of Republic Gypsum Co. in 1990. He opened ABBA Insurance Services, which he ran until 2015. He met his bride as a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol auxiliary of the USAF. Together they volunteered as disaster response officers until his retirement as Lt. CL. in 1978. During his service to CAP he attended Officer Training, Flight Training and the War College, receiving many accommodations including Marksman, Legion of Honor, Humanitarian and Meritorious Service. John was a lifelong lover of dogs and was a member of the Quartz Mountain Kennel Club, Altus, OK. He was educated at Penn State, University of DE, Altus Jr. College and Wharton School of Business.
His parents, Kermit and Harriet, his wife Jacqueline, his brother Kip and his two sons, Stephen and Michael preceded John in death. His daughter, Stefani Mahlich, his brother, Fredrick, and sister, Dorothea, survive him. He was the proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, Elliot Rodda, Jason Rodda, Lauren Teague, David Mahlich and Bradley Rodda and 2 great-grandchildren, Adrien Slepicka and Ryder Teague.
The funeral service will be held Friday, September 14, 2018, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 pm, followed by interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
