He was born in Detroit Michigan and graduated from the Lawrence Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He later received an MBA from Ohio University and a Professional Engineering License, in the State of Ohio. John served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, and the Michigan and Ohio Air National Guard for 17 ½ years. He was immensely proud of his country and his service.
John married Marianne Mackin in 1967 and they raised their family relocating from Michigan to Ohio and then to Texas. John worked as an electrical engineer for General Electric, Goodyear Uranium Enrichment Facility and Kelly Springfield before retiring.
John was a member of St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano, Texas and the Knights of Columbus Council 1502. He was a very intelligent and hardworking man, a creative problem-solver and a perfectionist. He was passionate about providing for his family and caring for his home and lawn. He liked spending time tinkering, fixing things and making improvements to just about anything he could. John loved big family celebrations and never missed a chance to dance a polka.
John is survived by his wife, Marianne Repka; son and daughter-in-law, John E. Repka and Dawn Hickman Repka, grandson Nicolas, granddaughters Natalie and Stephanie; son and daughter-in-law, Michael G. Repka and Tashana Kolanowski, granddaughter Edythe and grandson Edison; son and daughter-in-law David J. Repka and Lyndsey McCracken; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Bud Dandurand; and brother and sister-in-law, James M Repka and Linda Repka. He was preceded in death by parents, John Martin Repka and Rose Repka, and his sister, Dorothy Repka.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm, May 10, 2023 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plano, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
