He proudly served his country in the Air Force as an Airman First Class for 3 years and fought in the Korean War.
He married Evelyn in 1957 and the couple had 4 children, Doug, David, Annette and Nancy. He was a machinist at Dresser Industries where he worked for more than 20 years.
In his spare time, John enjoyed oil painting, wood working and reading western books.
His family and friends will always remember him as a loving husband, father, grandpa and papa.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Alta V Phillips, 5 siblings, Marie, Patricia, Billy, Helen and James and his son, David Phillips.
He is survived by; his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Phillips; children, Doug Phillips, Annette Phillips and Nancy Young, son-in-law Michael Young; grandchildren, Matthew Young, Brian Phillips, Eric Phillips and Jon Michael Young.
