A more jovial, light hearted Celebration of Life will be held at Cathedral of Hope Sunday, April the 18th at 2:30pm to share our personal stories of how John touched our lives.
John was born in Chicago to Richard and Patricia. He married Glenn in June of 2014 in Washington DC, where, at the time, it was legal. They celebrated their marriage with a second wedding at the Cathedral of Hope in October of that same year surrounded by family and friends. The originally met in Chicago in 1992 when set up on a blind date.
John, like his father, and his grandfather before him was a brilliant toy salesman. He began his career at Fisher Price in 1979 and spent years with Hasbro and Mattel. As you can imagine, Christmas was a very big holiday for the McGrail clan with two toy salesmen in the family. Glenn also benefited greatly from his road warrior lifestyle with all those great airline miles. Together they enjoyed extensive travel all over the United States, Mexico, Australia, Asia and Europe.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and served as an aerospace control and warning systems Sargent in Germany.
John is preceded in death by this father, Richard, his mother Patricia, his twin brother James Michael, and many aunts and uncles.
John is survived by his husband Glenn and his sisters Dawn, Terri, Susan and Colleen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to their Alzheimer’s Walk team, “The Mighty McGrails”. https://bit.ly/32gqvYw
