John was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 18th, 1936, and was raised in the Chicago area. He graduated from Bloom Township High School in 1954. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, and his Navy Pride ran deep for the rest of his life. Upon returning from the navy, he reconnected with the girl from homeroom, Carmella, who would become the love of his life. John worked for General Electric as a Commercial Cooking Equipment Specialist for nearly 30 years. After retirement, John enjoyed fishing, woodworking, taking care of his grandson, Cole, and becoming a barbeque master. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic philanthropic fraternal organization.
John was preceded in death by his parents, mother Esther Mascitti, father Guido Mascitti, and his stepmother, Gilda Mascitti.
He is survived by his wife, Carmella Mascitti of Plano, Texas; sister Jean Kiszczak of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Jerome Mascitti and his wife, Debbie of Lemont, Illinois; sister Julienne Lentz and husband Ron of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; brother Jamie Mascitti and wife Tracy of Oswego Illinois; son John Jr.; daughter Camille Bryan and husband Preston of Frisco, Texas; and grandson, Cole Bryan of Dallas, Texas.
