John Joseph Lucido of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends November 3, 2012. Born January 14, 1926 in Independence, Louisiana to Vito and Cira Lucido, preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara, he is survived by his children Brandt Lucido and wife Susan, Chris Lucido and wife Donna, Lisa Lucido-Womack and husband Corey, Grandchildren Brandon, Nick, and Preston Lucido, and Haley Roberts and a Great grandchild Elijah Joseph Lucido, Brothers, Sal, Vick, and Larry Lucido, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Growing up in a large Italian family on a strawberry farm in Louisiana he developed a gift for growing plants at an early age. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1944 to 1946 during WWII. After his military service, he married Barbara Cummings, opened a grocery store in Rockford, Illinois and started a family before moving to Dallas, Tx. In 1959, he established a family owned and operated automotive repair business known as One Stop Automotive. After retiring in the early 1990’s, he pursued his passion for growing herbs and working his garden in Copper Canyon, Texas. He was widely known for Lucido’s Pasta and his famous homemade Italian Sausage which he sold at many local farmers markets. He was an active member of St. Monica Catholic Church. John had a passion for life. He was an affable individual, a charismatic father, friend, associate and teacher. He was the type of individual who cultivated mutually beneficial personal and professional relationships. His benevolence in helping family, his church and many friends was John's trademark. He was a selfless individual who believed in causes larger than himself. John was a distinguished representative of a great and passing generation. His legacy and spirit will remain with us until we meet again. The family will receive friends, Friday, November 9, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held, 11:30 AM, Saturday, St. Monica’s Catholic Church. Interment at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
