John L. Kemp was born on August 2, 1943, to the parentage of A.J. Kemp and Mattie B. Kemp, in Homer, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer Kemp; and sibilings, A.J. Kemp, Jr., Lola Taylor, Katie Davis and Raleigh Kemp. John is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Adelheid Kemp; children, Paula Kemp Williams and John Kemp, Jr.; stepchildren, Tanja Ellis, Michele and Michael Sherod; grandchildren, Darais, Mark, Anthony and Norman; siblings, Mattie Kemp Johns (Charles), Celie Kemp Brown (Rev. Brown) and Ida Kemp Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
