John David Hoffman passed away February 6, 2018 in Dallas, Texas where he was born and raised. Born on October 13, 1960 to John L. Hoffman and Mildred Jean Hoffman. John attended W.W. Samuel High School in Dallas, TX where he made many lifelong friends and met his wife Carla Rose Yandell Hoffman. He graduated in 1978 and went on to become a Barber for three years, then a Borden milk delivery man, before finding his dream career in Truck Driving. He always put his wife and family first, but he loved the open road when he was trucking around the USA. He was always a history enthusiast and became a “Mile-marker Magic Man” while becoming an expert trucker. He also loved to sing-along to just about anything (including but not limited to Disney princess songs), marched to his own beat, and could make a drum set out of just about anything. John was preceded in death by his father, John L. Hoffman, and his mother, Mildred Jean Hoffman.
John is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Carla Rose Yandell Hoffman, his son Craig Lewis Hoffman and wife Alicia and grandson River Roy, his daughter Sarah Caroline Hoffman and partner Loretta Smith, his daughter Caitlyn Rose Hoffman and Daniel Traylor, sisters Jean Downey and husband John, Joan West, and Sandy Hoffman, his loving 4-footed friend Maddie, his many other indispensable family, friends, and loved ones. Visitation will be held Thursday February 8th at Grove Hill Funeral Home from 4-7pm. Memorial service will be held Friday February 9th at 10am at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2525 N. Buckner, Dallas, TX meal in fellowship hall following service.
