John Edward Hodge

He was born in Dallas Texas on August 6th, 1938, to Edward and Ellie Hodge.

He was married to the love of his life “Gloria Hodge” for 67 years.

John loved listening to music and playing his guitar. He was very crafty and loved working in his woodshop. He enjoyed going fishing and watching John Wayne movies. He liked all types of sports. Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Nascar. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edward D. and Ellie Mae Hodge, sister Rosmary Brackenridge, brother Raymond Hodge, and great granddaughter Megan Slade.

John is survived by his wife Gloria Hodge, sister Linda Campbell, and 2 daughters. Karen Smith and husband Max, Donna Averitt and husband Todd, 5 grandchildren. Vaness Slade and husband John, Cristina Longville and husband Kevin, Matthew Smith and wife Theresa.

Jonathan McBride, and Justin McBride. 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Cowboy Church of Ellis County on Hwy 287 Friday

April 12th at 10:00am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Burial will be at Laural Land Cemetery of Dallas
