John A. Heidman passed away on February 3, 2012. He was born on August 1, 1936 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Fredrick William Heidman and Arlene Edna Olhsen Heidman. He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Dolly Fortier. He grew up in Muskegon, Michigan and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. He graduated from Ferris State College with a business degree. On February 29, 1964, John married the love of his life, Peggy Benedict, in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1968, John founded Irri*Tech Corporation in Dallas. He built the company to become the largest irrigation consulting and installation company in North Texas. John was a pioneer and leader in the irrigation industry and was a constant innovator. John felt that the irrigation industry should be treated as a profession and was instrumental in writing and passing legislation in Texas which established regulations for the industry. John retired in 2007 and his family and friends continue to operate the company.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy. Brother Rick, and sister-in-law Joanie of Newnan, Georgia, son Scott Heidman, and wife Angela, of Rowlett, Texas, son Steve Heidman, and wife Dona, of Frisco, Texas and son Seth Heidman, and wife Stella, of Plano, Texas; grandchildren Richard Joseph, Katelyn, Hannah, Emily, Harrison, William, Luke, Danielle, and John Kristopher. John was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 2:00 pm, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and to The Messenger of Hope Scholarship Fund at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Plano, Texas.
