John Mitchell Hallum

John Mitchell Hallum, born June 8, 1960, passed peacefully on January 8, 2017 at home. He is survived by his husband of 27 years, Wilkes L. Kothmann and their beloved Schnauzer, Buddy, his loving parents, John C and Jeanette (Sherrin) Hallum, his brother, James Hallum and wife, Ranita, his sister, Judy Rice and husband, Charles Rice, Sr., his sister-in-law, Laura Kothmann Reed and husband, Bruce Reed, and his sister-in-law, Debbie Kothmann and husband, John Brooks. Additionally, John is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jarrell Mitchell Hallum, Charles Rice, Jr., Jamie Clay, Stephanie Lowe, Addie J Rice, Curtis Kothmann Reed and Kevin Charles Reed and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

John was employed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church for over 10 years and leaves behind many dear friends and co-workers, especially his mentor Thecla Tybor. John took great pride in his many accomplishments including his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Arlington and his acting career on stage and in film. John and Wilkes lived a full and happy life and John will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3811 Oak Lawn Avenue, Dallas, TX

Pallbearers will be David Macquilkin, Bruce Reed, James Hallum, Charles Rice, Sr., Charles Rice, Jr., and Jarrell Mitchell Hallum. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Heifer.org or the charity of your choice.
