John Peter Burg (J.P.) went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the age of 87. He lost his battle with cancer after several years of fighting and can now rest easy in God’s arms.
J.P. was born at home in Stonewall, Texas, June 16, 1935. He was the youngest of 8 children born to Willie Peter and Fredricka Engel Burg. He was brought up understanding the meaning of hard work and took pride in everything he did. He worked on the family farm until he graduated from Fredericksburg High School at the age of 17. At that time he started working for Walter Pehl doing carpentry work which became his life long career.
JP joined the Army in June of 1955. He served as a Specialist 3rd class at Nike Missile Base in California. It was during his time in the Army that he came home on leave and met the love if his life, Darlene Fritz. They were married November 1958. They shared 64 years of marriage and everyone who spent more than 10 minutes with them knew that they were attached at the hip.
J.P. and Darlene moved to Dallas, where J.P. continued to work with Walter Pehl perfecting his cabinetry craft. He then worked for Ivey Lumber Sales for many years until going into business for himself. He retired at the age of 83. He loved life and lived every moment to its fullest.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie P and Fredericka Burg as well as all of his siblings, Meta Pahl, Cora Brehmer, Clifton Burg, Cecelia Hawn, Delrose Cearley, Laverne Stehling, and Willie Mae Nebgen; grandson Robert Allen Jenkins.
J.P. is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Fritz Burg of Dallas; children, Patricia Jenkins and husband Bobby Jr.; Stephen Burg and wife Margie, Lisa Kay West, Melinda Lucas and husband Eric; grandchildren, Randy Jenkins and wife Mikka, Christy McGuire, Cody McGuire, Eric Burg, Kimberly Adams and husband Nathan, Daniel West and wife Jodi, Katelyn Lucas, Sean Lucas; eleven great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was also blessed with scores of extended family and friends

A visitation for John will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
