Dr. John W. Allen went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2018 at age 78. John was born on October 2, 1939 in Luling, Texas. He grew up in Fort Worth, Tx and graduated in 1957 from R. L. Paschal High School. He then proudly served as an officer in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets until 1960, majoring in Pre-Dental. John graduated from the Baylor College of Dentistry in 1964, and did his oral surgery residency there through 1967. He then served on the faculty as Assistant Chairman, Department of Oral Surgery, at Baylor College of Dentistry for 15 years. After retiring from Baylor, John worked as an oral surgeon in private practice until his retirement. Dr. Allen served as a member of the attending staff at Baylor University Medical Center for 44 years.
John loved to work on old cars, restoring several 1930s, 1940s and 1950s-era cars and trucks. He was generous to those he knew, and to those he didn’t know. His sense of humor was sharp, and his smile was infectious.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Mae Mayton Allen; his father, George Cadwell Allen; and his sister, Martha Sue Allen Etheredge. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cunningham Allen; three sons, William George (Gretchen), John Brian (Chad) and Charles Andrew (Diane); his former spouse, Rosa Lee Allen, mother of his older children; and two grandchildren, Zachary Ethan Allen and Avery Grace Allen.
A private burial service was held at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
