Homegoing: October 31, 2016

Joe Jr., age 60, was called home to be with our Lord on Monday, October 31, 2016 in prayer and surrounded by the love of his family. Joe Jr. was welcomed in heaven by family who preceded him in death: his parents, Joe Gomez Sr. and Virginia Franco Gomez; his sister, Lily Ruiz; his brother, James Gomez; and his grandson, Sergio Lopez. Joe Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Gina, parted only by death to reunite again one day; five inseparable children, Vincent Gomez (Felicia), Emilio Gomez, Valerie Lara (Jose), Joe Gomez III, and Stephanie Lopez (Sergio); 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his sister Diana and Rene Nanez; his brother Freddie and Terry Gomez; his loving niece Leticia Rodriguez (Rodney); his Tio and Tias, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Our father’s determination and will to fight will always be reflected in each of us. Our father was persistent in his long battle through the end and we are at peace, comforted knowing he is now resting in the arms of the Lord. Our father’s passion for life led him to take on as many chances offered to him and fully experience life. Pops never understood the meaning of “No”, and if even if he did, he chose not to live by that notion. Pops firmly believed in FAMILY and remaining united. He always spoke his mind and very rarely felt a filter was necessary. Pops, rest assured that your spirit and zeal for life will forever live on within each of us and you will always be present. You will always be a part of each of us and we will never forget we are FAMILY; after all, we are each a Gomez.
