Happy Birthday Daddy! I wanted to call you this morning and remind you that your birthday is tomorrow, the 31st! The last day of the month! Then you reply with, "No by birthday is today! Then I would say, "No!! it's the last day of the month so it's tomorrow the 31st!!" And you would say, "There's not 31 days in September!!!!!" lol I love you so much Daddy! It feels my heart that you are at peace and makes me sad at the same time. 

One last goodbye dad.  
Remembering when you got upset, you would go work on the cars.  Mom would send me out there to help you.  You would tell me to go back inside.  I was so little, maybe 5-8 years old.  I replied, but mom told me to help you.  So you would have me hold the light for you.
When you bought me my first pellet gun.  Just like you had as a kid.  The time I saw a duck at Canton flea market and wanted so bad.  You bought him for me and had in the back yard for years.  You were so happy for me to become linesman for soccer games.  You would referee the games and me linesman with you.  You took Joey and I golfing one day.  I continued with it and you were so happy.  You loved golf when you were younger and kind of felt like you were living through me.  A sport you cherished so much as a teenager and young man.  Remember going to the State Fair of Texas with you, just us two a few different times.  The security at gates took your little pocket knife and you were so mad.  I kept laughing the entire time, cause you kept complaining the entire day.  Margo and I taking you and mom on day trips.  Mom always complaining about my driving the entire time and you just laughing.  All the get togethers with the family.  You always joking and getting people riled up, always smiling also.  You always telling the waiters we ate all the rolls and cornbread, or all the chips.  Saying, these some hungry people, they want more.  When I ran my first marathon, my dad was in the hospital recovering.  I visited my dad that evening.  He told me he was telling all the nurses, my boy is running a half marathon today.  Just like I did for many years.  Many of you know my dad use to run a lot of 5k’s and half marathons too, for many years.  Even sick in the hospital he was bragging on me.  Always proud of me.  This is the most important wish we could ever get from a parent, especially from a dad to son.   Trying to earn a father’s approval. This is something I will always cherish!
