Joaquin Mora Moreno was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Metal, and United Nations Service Medal for active duty overseas from 1952-1954 and then was transferred from USMC-SS to Marines Corp Reserve until March 6, 1960. He was proud to be in the United States Marine Corps and to have served his country.
He served honorably in the Marines achieving a rank of Corporal. Joaquin’s experience in the Military played a very important role in his life. He frequently pointed out that the Marines taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, courage, and dignity.
While in the Military he fell in love with the woman of his dreams (Amelia Cruz), married her, and started his legacy.
Our father was our Hero, he holds a special place in our hearts, and he was our protector and a silent sacrificer who shaped our lives forever. He loved his family dearly and was a true family man who also raised some of his grandchildren. He did everything to support his family. He was a man who had the values of courage, dignity and integrity. His hobbies were dancing, fishing, and having picnics at the lake. He also enjoyed going to air shows. He had a love for plants and had a green thumb. He also loved to work on his own cars and was a jack of all trades. He started to work at GAF Dallas Plant from 1951-1991 and retired as a cutter machine operator after working 40 years.
He will be greatly missed and will be forever in our hearts. We can put our hearts to rest knowing he is now reunited with the love of his life, our mother Amelia C. Moreno.
