It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Jil Jabour Katz. Jil was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on March 5, 1956. She lived in Dallas with her loving family until her death on December 13, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward Jabour and Cynthia Rives Jabour. Jil is survived by her husband of 39 years, Warren, her daughters, Alden and Breanna, stepsons Scott, Marc and Brian, daughters-in-law Melissa and Jeanne, son-in-law Ben, grandsons Jack, Collin and Jaymus and sister Jere Jabour.
Jil graduated from All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg before heading to SMU and graduating with a BBA in Real Estate & Finance. At SMU, Jil was a Kappa Kappa Gamma, SAE Little Sister and SMU Rotunda Beauty. Jil had a career in commercial and residential real estate until her marriage to Warren. Next, she thrived in her most fulfilling role as wife, mother and grandmother. More recently, Jil managed Warren’s successful medical practice for almost a decade. Throughout her life, Jil selflessly dedicated her time, passion and energy into making a meaningful difference in her community. Jil was a member of Cattle Barons, Children’s Cancer Fund, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, National Kidney Foundation, The Harmony Club and many others. Jil actively served in a myriad of roles and volunteered in numerous meaningful endeavors at The Hockaday School during the time her daughters were students, including the Hockaday Parents Association Board of Directors.
Jil was a rare gift to the countless lives she touched. She was the light of her husband’s life and dedicated partner by his side always. She was the ultimate host to family and friends and especially loved celebrating their birthdays and holidays. Jil never met a person who was a stranger and was blessed with the grace, warmth and compassion to make them feel welcomed and loved. Jil was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and attended Highland Park United Methodist Church; and for the past 10 years looked forward to a weekly Bible Study she attended with some of her closest friends.
Her most successful and favorite role was that of mom. She adored her children and spent every waking moment devoted to their happiness. Mom, we love you more than anything and will dedicate our lives to making you proud.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Jil’s beautiful and meaningful life of 65 years will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church, in the Sanctuary, at 10:00am, Saturday, December 18, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity organization of your choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com for the Katz family.
