Jewell Inez Feagins Dunn, 90, passed away on February 5, 2015 in her home. She was the second child born to Harless and Edna Feagins on April 1, 1924 in Denton County, TX. Jewell graduated from Frisco High School and the University of North Texas.
She married Ernest Coleman Dunn on May 4, 1957, and they celebrated 35 years of marriage before Ernest’s death in 1992.
Through Jewell and Ernest’s hard work and dedication, they built Dunn Bros., Inc. to be one of the most respected pipeline stringing companies in the industry. Jewell was named Pipeliner of the Year in 1972 by the Pipeline Digest. In 1999, she was made an honorary member of the Pipe Line Contractors Association. She was the only woman to receive this prestigious award.
Jewell was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, sister Mary McGraw, brother Jimmy Feagins and nephew, David Feagins. She is survived by her sister, Monna Brown of Dallas; her brothers, Harless Feagins of Manistee, Michigan, Edwin Feagins of Lewisville, Kenneth Feagins and his wife, Leatha of Dallas, and Gibson Feagins and his wife Eveleta of Crowley . Although she did not have any children of her own, Jewell is fondly remembered by four nieces and nine nephews – Suzie Jacobs, Judy Roumillat, Cookie Feagins and Denise Thompson; Eugene Johnson, Jimmie, Mike, Ray, Tim, Ronnie, Ernie, Rob Feagins and Alan Brown.
A longtime member of Lovers Lane Methodist, Jewell was most recently a member of Highland Park Methodist. She enjoyed travel, working in downtown Dallas, reading, shopping at Neiman Marcus, hosting friends in her home and spending time at her beloved ranch. She was always lending a helping hand to those in need.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Madeley for his compassion and expertise in Jewell’s care. They also thank Grace Hospice and caregivers Jane Eubanks and LaVoyce Sims for their four years of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association (4144 N. Services will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel East, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy. Dallas, TX 75225 on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
