Jerry Dean Mullins was born on January 14, 1938 in Stamford, TX to Sherman and Allene Mullins. After the death of their mother, Jerry and his siblings were raised by their beloved aunt, Mamie Watson. Jerry joined the Navy in 1955 and proudly served 4 years. He began working for Owens Country Sausage in 1962 and retired after 38 years. He was one of a small number of employees who won the prestigious Golden Hitch Award. He began his second career at Kroger in 2003 where he worked for 10 years. Jerry married his childhood sweetheart Sandra Nell Hadaway on August 23, 1957 and together they had 3 sons .
Jerry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchild. Everyone always enjoyed Jerry’s unfiltered, colorful sense of humor. He passed away on December 7, 2014 at home with family by his side. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Mamie Watson, and twin brother Jimmy. He is survived by his wife Sandra Mullins, son Randy Mullins and his wife Denise, son Ronny Mullins and his wife Laurie, son Jimmy Mullins, grandchildren Ronnie Mullins and his wife Jamie, Taylor Hamblin and her husband Daniel, Shelbi Mullins, Matt Mullins, Courtney Mullins, and great-grandchild Gracie Mullins, sister Fran Stiewert and her husband Leo, sister Mary Ethel Counts and her husband David, sister-in-law Carolyn Mullins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Friday December 12, 2014 at the Grace Ave. United Methodist Church, 3521 West Main Street, Frisco, Texas at 11:00AM.
